Mit dem Sempron präsentiert Hersteller AMD einen neuen Prozessor bzw. eine ganze Prozessor Familie für den kleinen Geldbeutel. Dabei beschränkt man sich jedoch nicht nur auf eine einzige Plattform, sondern bietet den Sempron gleich für zwei verschiedene Systeme (Sockel 754 und A) an und will im Laufe des Jahres auch noch entsprechende Sockel 939 Modelle auf den Markt bringen.
Grundsätzlich hat man bei den Sockel A Varianten im Vergleich zum alt bekannten Athlon XP nicht viel verändert, doch mehr dazu auf den folgenden Seiten. Der Sockel 754 Sempron kann hier jedoch deutlich mehr Features bieten, was er letztlich auch seinem Sockel und dem K8-basierten Kern zu verdanken hat - Cool´n´Quiet, NX und vieles mehr. Die neuste Version auf Palermo-Basis kann sogar SSE3 bieten. In unserem folgenden Artikel möchten wir einen AMD Sempron 3100+, basierend auf 0,13 µm Paris-Kern, genauer unter die Lupe nehmen.
