Bei den Kollegen von ocworkbench.com ist mittlerweile der erste richtige Test der Gigabyte GV-3D1 aufgetaucht. Die Karte basiert auf zwei GeForce 6600 GT Grafikchips und vereint somit SLI auf einer einzigen Platine. Genaue technische Hintergründe sind bisher leider noch nicht bekannt. Ebenso ist noch ungeklärt, warum die Grafikkarte bisher nur auf Gigabytes GA-K8NXP-SLI betrieben werden konnte, und sonst auf keinem anderen Board. Eventuell will der Hersteller die Karte somit fest an eigene Produkte binden und eine Auseinandersetzung mit Nvidia vermeiden.
Des Weiteren hat Gigabyte auch einen passenden Treiber für die GV-3D1 mitgeliefert. Version 71.24 scheint einige Optimierungen für die Dual-GPU-Karte zu enthalten und bietet daher deutlich mehr Performance als die offizielle ForceWare-Version 66.93.
